New! Codes for Mac Terminal!

Sorry we haven't been able to get any codes up yet! We hope that this list will make up for the lack of codes lately!
________________________

echo

*This code allows you to make the computer repeat the text you type after echo. For example, you could type 'echo Follow Grey Sky Encoding on Twitter!' and the computer would type out 'Follow Grey Sky Encoding on Twitter!' Kind of pointless, but still fun!*
________________________

man -k all

*This code brings up a list of codes. We are trying to decipher them and find out what they do, so stay in touch about this code. You can scroll quickly through the list using the 'u' and 'd' keys.*
________________________

restart

*This code restarts your computer. Usefull if you want to exit Terminal, eh?*
________________________

shutdown

*Same principal as restart, but without the restarting part. Used to shutdown from Terminal.*

We'll try to update the code section weekly! You can also learn the hottest new codes on our Twitter account, greyskyencoding! New codes will be in new posts, but we will update the posts we already have once in a while to make sure our info is accurate.

How to enter Terminal on a Mac

First, let's get you started off with entering Terminal. Make sure your Mac is off. Hold down the command key and 's' on the keypad. Turn on your Mac. Wait until it starts to boot up. It should take you to a black screen instead of the login menu. Don't be alarmed by the code that streams down your scren... ignore it. There will be a white bar next to some text. This is where you enter your codes. If the bar does not appear, wait for a while and see if it shows up. If not, restart and try again.

Welcome to Grey Sky Encoding

Yes, we know we spelled 'grey' with an 'e' instead of an 'a'. But that is'nt important right now. We did it on purpose.

Anyways, welcome to Grey Sky Encoding. We have provided this site to you as a troubleshooting and/or geeky site, where one can learn the workings of code on Mac and PC Terminals. What is Terminal? Terminal is the core of your computer. By accesing Terminal, you can edit the settings of your computer, create files, and even make a new acount if you forgot the password to your old one. We have our own team of encoders who are constantly learning new codes on Terminal for your benefit. Some are pointless, yes, but we hope the ones we provide that are meant to be helpfull ARE. Welcome. Enjoy.
